The ladder actually raises and locks into place, which my son thinks is the coolest thing ever. It’s solid beech wood, so it feels like it will survive plenty of pretend fires.

My kid hasn't put this down since it arrived — the beech wood feels really solid and the ladder stays up at an angle well.

Solid beech wood feels really nice in hand and the proportions are just right for little firefighters. The ladder raises smoothly, though it doesn't lock as firmly as I'd like for a 4-year-old's enthusiasm. Still, it's held up to daily rescues for a month now without a scratch.
