A Year & A Day Magazine, Issue 14 Moor & Heath

This seasonal quarterly UK magazine is for children to learn about nature and its beautiful seasons.

This magazine opens up children to creativity through stories, activities, drawing, crafting, and letter and number work.

Each issue of A Year and a Day includes three full stories, fifteen story-based activities and several additional seasonally themed pages, including recipes, posters and quizzes. Each issue has an average of forty pages, printed on high-quality, uncoated paper, especially for drawing and writing on.

Travel to the moors and heath and experience the beauty of these wild summery fields in the Summer 2023 issue of A Year and a Day Magazine. 'Oh the summertime is coming, and the trees are sweetly blooming, where the wild mountain thyme, grows among the purple heather. Will ye go, lassie, go?' Explore this land of opposites: wild and tamed, thriving and barren, welcoming and dangerous and home to some of our most classic and beguiling folk tales.

In this issue, you will find three stories all about the flora, fauna and folk of the moors: The giants, Wade and Bell of the North York Moors, who shaped the land they lived upon, the 'piskies' of Dartmoor, who can be friend or foe to a moorland farmer and the witches and willo-the-wisps of the Scottish heath, who can lure travellers into danger.

In addition to discovering these wonderful traditional stories, by the time you've read this magazine, you will know how to:

• Draw a hare

• Build a drystone wall

• Identify and harvest seeds from grasses

• Say the word for 'rabbit' in other languages

• Make a moorland dwelling

• ...and so much more!
