The way this book weaves the connection between neighbors and nature really sparked thoughtful questions from my 7-year-old about our own backyard trees. It's rare to find a children's book that handles interconnectedness so gently without being preachy.

My 6-year-old was completely captivated by the way the story connects the lonely neighbor to the trees and animals. It opened a great conversation about how we're all part of nature, something I hadn't expected from a picture book.

The opening line about Mrs Lee hooked my kid immediately, and the way it weaves in how we're all connected to trees and animals sparked a whole conversation after bedtime. We've read it three nights in a row now, and my 6-year-old keeps pointing out the details in the illustrations.
