اللهب الصغير

My kid asked for it three nights in a row, and I don’t even mind. The way the wind and flame chase each other through the grass and up the trees builds such a gentle tension, and the ending about the bush catching fire got a real gasp out of him.

The way this book describes the flame moving through the bush is so vivid it actually makes my son lean in closer to the pages. The rhythm of the text is perfect for reading aloud before bed.

My three-year-old asks for this story every single night now — the way the flame dances across the pages has her completely mesmerized. The text has just the right rhythm for reading aloud, building tension as the fire spreads. A lovely, unexpected find for bedtime.
